| The Stranger of Two Men - Narrative Poetry |
On the Road to Friendship Map in hand we drove on a highway of swirling winds and a clear blue sky, with scattered puffs of cotton candy. Long blond hair painted streaks upon her face. The wind served as a musical instrument playing a melody between her and the road, and I listened. Speaking in a smooth rhythm of sincerity added to a comfort I had not felt, for a long time. We spoke without discord, arranging stanzas along the way, poetic gestures between two strangers on a journey significant only for its faithfulness. Upon our destination, we took a road closer to nature. The smooth and comfortable trail made us happy. Her smile delighted our hosts. The trees rustled in the soft breeze, Yellow Warblers sang, and monarchs floated on a soft stream of air. It was a graceful day. What was once strenuous was now easy. Lost along the trail we wandered aimlessly, without objection and without reservation. We spoke trivial truths, which took upon new meaning between us. This is when I realized how significant this woman is. Understanding that she is wonderful and knowing that she is my most beautiful friend. |
